BioTalent Canada Hiring Incentives
BioTalent has great hiring incentives for businesses and organizations with biotechnology and STEM related positions. They have three main programs that focus on students in or graduating from STEM related programs.
1. Student Work Integrated Learning Program – applications due April 13th 2. Science Horizons – applications closed but new dates may be announced this Spring 3. Green Jobs- applications accepted on an on-going basis

Get your foot in the door to start your career. Gain valuable work experience and skills needed to initiate your career in the biotechnology. The Student Work Placement Program’s co-op wage subsidy offers employers up to $7,000 towards your salary as incentive to hire and train you.
Wage subsidies are available to all employers who are creating a work integrated learning opportunity and who meet the program criteria. Employers can hire STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) or business students from any post-secondary institutions across Canada through BioTalent Canada’s Student Work Placement Program.To participate in a student work placement you must:
be registered in a post-secondary STEM or business program that includes work placements/internships/practicum;be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection given under the law;be legally able to work in Canada according to the laws and regulations of the province or territory where you live.

Green Jobs – Applications accepted on an on-going basis
It is a wage subsidy program for employment opportunities that have a green mandate or any job with an employer that has an environmental focus. The program provides up to a maximum of $13,500 in wage subsidies to help employers hire the talent they need and help recent graduates initiate a career.
Green jobs are employment opportunities that meet the following criteria:
Help reduce the consumption of energy and raw materials;
Limit greenhouse gas emissions;
Minimize waste and pollution;
Protect and restore ecosystems.
Green jobs can also include employment opportunities in:
Non-profit environmental organizations;
Solar and wind technology companies;
Environmental science centers;
Watershed and water resource agencies;
Farms and farming co-ops;
Museums and educational institutions;
Waste management companies;
Information technology companies.
Examples of positions that could qualify
Finance Coordinator at a solar energy company
Systems Administrator for an environmental management software at a manufacturing company
Program Assistant for an electronic waste program at an IT device manufacturer
Research Scientist at a biofuels company
